What allows Helix to be approved for structural reinforcement? It is simple. Helix Micro-Rebar develops its full tensile resistance in concrete BEFORE a visible crack (0.004 inch or 0.0002 millimeter) forms. Rebar, on the other hand, does not develop its full tensile resistance until AFTER a .080-inch or 2-millimeter crack forms. Synthetic fibers stretch until the crack is 3 millimeters wide before full tensile resistance is achieved. The bottom line is, do you want concrete reinforcement that prevents cracks and then controls them tightly or do want to keep using traditional rebar/mesh/fiber reinforcements and accept the cracks that will occur?
